A powerful feature supporting advanced searches and recall configurations.
Advanced filters is a new functionality that enables users to build more powerful searches in Abtrace.
With advanced filters, users can:
- Look at rule-specific search results
- Combined searches to build complex reports
Accessing advanced filters
From the population view, select 'Advanced search' at the top left. If this is not visible, contact a practice admin or support@abtrace.co.
Rule-specific results
Although Abtrace can simplify searches to be about overall tasks and indications, sometimes users have very specific rules that they wish to see results for - eg for QOF performance.
When you enter a search term, it will give you results that match one of three things: 1. Matches for the term from Overall indications 2. Matches for the term from Tasks 3. Matches for the term from 'RULES'. Searching for QOF rules (eg CHOL003 or DM006) allows you to see results only pertaining to these specific rules. |

Complex queries
A common phenomenon in practice will be recalling a specific group or subset of patients.
> Patients with diabetes who are housebound
> Patients with diabetes, who are currently overdue a blood test, who are not housebound.
Arranging reviews
Arranging a condition review to discover that the patient has not had the necessary prior tests can be frustrating.
In the example below, we show five searches relevant to your mental health recall. In this model, a practice is:
1. Checking for patients to be handled by other team-members (eg housebound, learning disability, etc).
2. Checking for patients already marked as exempt
3. Checking MH reviews already done - has anything been missed?
4. For those not yet done - GP only wants to see those who have had blood tests and biometrics already done.
5. For those without bloods/biometrics - want to book with HCA.
Each example below contains a screenshot, and you can click the hyperlink to open the search in your Abtrace tool and compare your numbers.
62 patients with Mental Health recall needs
1. 0/62 are housebound, care home, palliative care, learning disability or dementia
Suggest: bespoke recall arrangement. Bulk message or export to CSV
2. 9/62 - Mental Health Review done this financial year (MH002).
> 8/9 complete - nothing missed
> 1/9 incomplete - needs alcohol intake questionnaire.
Suggest: action missing items remotely. Open in patient view.
3. 2/62 have been exempted from the requirement to have their mental health review.
Suggestion: review exemptions.
4. 7/62 are up to date on bloods/biometrics, SO CAN BE BOOKED for a mental health review.
Suggest: Bulk message or auto-recall (with booking link) to GP slot for mental health review.
5. 44/62 are due bloods/biometrics BEFORE they can have their mental health review.
Suggest: Bulk message or auto-recall (with booking link) to HCA slot for bloods/biometrics.
The same concepts can be applied for other conditions and recalls.
We are confident that Advanced Filters will enable you to tailor how you use Abtrace, and make sure you are recalling the right patient, to see the right person, at the right time.
